Further Efficiencies with eMBMS Preloading | TechZine – Alcatel-Lucent

To increase the cost savings and efficiency provided by multicasting, LTE network operators can add preloading. This tool delivers popular multimedia content during off-peak hours and stores it in mobile device memory for later use.

 Highlights

  • eMBMS is far more scalable than unicast.
  • It needs only a small fraction of the capacity required by unicast delivery.
  • With preloading, eMBMS transmissions can be timed to use resources most efficiently.
